Sometimes you stumble upon some royal gems on YouTube, like I did a few years back when I found video of Zara Tindall’s (née Phillips) christening. It took place at Windsor Castle in July 1981, just two days before her uncle, Prince Charles, married Lady Diana Spencer at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London.
If Charles was nervous about his impending nuptials (or dreading them, as the public is now aware), you wouldn’t know it. The doting uncle kissed his niece’s head as the Queen held her proudly before parents, godparents (Prince Andrew, the Countess of Lichfield; Helen, Lady Stewart, Andrew Parker Bowles and Hugh Thomas) and grandparents sat for official photos. Each year the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal tugs at the heartstrings of U.K. and Commonwealth citizens and royal watchers alike. The charity — which raises money for veterans — takes place in November, leading up to Remembrance Sunday. The poppy was first mentioned in the World War I poem, “In Flanders Fields,” showing up on the Western Front during battle, and so became “an enduring symbol of remembrance,” according to the Imperial War Museum. Mrs. Jack Brooksbank celebrated two years of wedded bliss (and ten years together) today by sharing an Instagram video of their relationship, which included some behind-the-scenes photos from their wedding day.
Most royal watchers will agree that Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank’s wedding their second favorite modern royal wedding to watch, right behind William and Kate’s. [Read more…]
Someone looks refreshed and energized now that her children are back in school.
Kidding. Kind of. Her skin looks incredible and her hair is ever so bouncy and luminous. And that Alexander McQueen tuxedo jacket. *chef’s kiss*
In a video shot at the Natural History Museum (of which she is patron), the Duchess of Cambridge promoted the 2020 Wildlife Photographer of the Year awards, which will be held virtually for the first time. Her Royal Highness will announce the winner tomorrow night from the museum; I’m really hoping we’ll see her in a dress. [Read more…]
Last Friday’s premiere of “Emily in Paris” on Netflix might have been nothing like Kate’s royal trip to the city of lights in 2017 (for one, I don’t think Patricia Fields, the show’s costume designer, edited HRH’s wardrobe).
And yet, here I am flipping through a few of Kate’s looks and thinking how, like any woman, excited she must have been to wear Chanel while carrying Chanel in the city where Chanel made Chanel. [Read more…]
For the first time in over six months, a royal event took place at Buckingham Palace. On behalf of the Queen, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge greeted with President Volodymyr Zelensky and his wife, Olena in the palace’s Throne Room.
You know what’s strange? I didn’t love Kate Middleton’s Eponine dress last night, but I was totally into her head-to-toe green sports outfit today. I can’t explain why. Sometimes we’re drawn to weird things. One of my Twitter friends, Suzy Q, called Kate’s culottes “Sportspants” and henceforth they shall be referred to as such. [Read more…]
On Friday, the couple posted an update on their official website letting fans know what their plans are once they officially leave the House of Windsor this spring. After reading it once, I thought to myself, “These bullet points sound a little bitter, but maybe I’m overreacting.” So I read it again. Then I read it to a friend who doesn’t follow royalty but is intrigued by Harry and Meghan’s break-up with the royal family. She, too, found it to be defensive and a little whiny. [Read more…]
Earlier today royal fans and fairweather observers alike woke up to news that Prince Harry and his girlfriend of of 16 month, Meghan Markle, were engaged. The couple held a photocall at Kensington Palace’s Sunken Garden before sitting down with the BBC’s Mishal Husain.
Markle, who until recently starred on USA Network’s “Suits,” has moved into Nottingham cottage, Harry’s two-bedroom abode at Kensington Palace. It was there that Harry proposed one evening while she was making them a roast chicken. [Read more…]
