On Friday, the couple posted an update on their official website letting fans know what their plans are once they officially leave the House of Windsor this spring. After reading it once, I thought to myself, “These bullet points sound a little bitter, but maybe I’m overreacting.” So I read it again. Then I read it to a friend who doesn’t follow royalty but is intrigued by Harry and Meghan’s break-up with the royal family. She, too, found it to be defensive and a little whiny.

Earlier today royal fans and fairweather observers alike woke up to news that Prince Harry and his girlfriend of of 16 month, Meghan Markle, were engaged. The couple held a photocall at Kensington Palace’s Sunken Garden before sitting down with the BBC’s Mishal Husain.
Markle, who until recently starred on USA Network’s “Suits,” has moved into Nottingham cottage, Harry’s two-bedroom abode at Kensington Palace. It was there that Harry proposed one evening while she was making them a roast chicken.

Hurrah for charity and the spirit of giving and betrothals!
Pippa Middleton made her debut at BGC Charity Day in London’s Canary Wharf on September 12th, put on by BGC Partners and Cantor Fitzgerald in New York to raise money for the Cantor Fitzgerald Relief Fund.
The annual day remembers the 658 Cantor employees and 61 Eurobrokers who perished in the September 11th attacks at the World Trade Center. [Read more…]

Today, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended the Louis Vuitton America’s Cup World Series on the Solent, a straight that separates the Isle of Wight from mainland England.
Catherine is patron of the 1851 Trust, a charity run by sailing champ Sir Ben Ainslie that aims to get youths involved in the sport.
Today, wearing her Land Rover BAR polo, skinny jeans, Kiki McDonough’s “Lauren” gold leaf earrings and Monsoon wedges, Catherine met some of its members in Portsmouth. [Read more…]

Why? Because her younger daughter will one day inherit a title, just like her older sister.
Not as grand, no, but still…Pippa Middleton’s fiance, James Matthews is a self-made man and is doing very well for himself, but his family also happens to enjoy great success the luxury hotel business.

Last night, the Daily Mail‘s Richard Kay had it on good authority that Pippa Middleton was engaged to investment firm owner James Matthews.
At around the same time the story was published, Middleton attended a party in support of the British Heart Foundation, hiding her left hand from photographers (though no bauble was visible, it’s likely Middleton was hiding a ring tan). [Read more…]

They were there on official business, but it’s always lovely to pop round to visit one’s grandson at his place of work.
Before she meets with outgoing Prime Minister David Cameron at 5pm, the Queen (accompanied by the Duke of Edinburgh) opened a new East Anglian Air Ambulance Base at Cambridge Airport today, according to BBC News.
Coincidentally, this is also where Prince William is based as a pilot for the ambulatory service.
This is the second time Her Majesty and Prince Philipe have visited the Duke of Cambridge’s place of work. [Read more…]

Well, this is an interesting development.
Though her mother went in 2011 as a guest of the Queen, the Duchess of Cambridge has never attended Royal Ascot, though to be one of the most significant days in the British calendar.
According to royal reporter Katie Nicholl, William and Catherine will attend this year’s race as a sort of birthday favor to Her Majesty. [Read more…]

to what the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge call one another behind closed doors.
When News of The World illegally tapped into the couple’s voicemails in 2006, Prince William was heard calling Catherine “babykins” and “baby.”
