If there’s anything the Brits know how to do, it’s comedy. Case-in-point: BBC America’s faux reality series, “Almost Royal,” which follows aristocratic siblings Poppy and Georgie Carlton on a tour of the USA. Though the trip was brought on by tragic circumstances (their father accidentally shot himself when a bullet from his hunting rifle ricocheted off a “No Hunting” sign ), Georgie and Poppy appeared to have soaked up at least a Range Rover full of American culture.
They learned about baseball, they witness a Revolutionary War reenactment and — though they didn’t quite get the hang of it — picked up some American lingo.
On October 30, the network invited Poppy and Georgie to the Britannia Awards at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. This was the Carltons’ first red carpet, as they spend most of their time in and around their Norfolk estate and don’t get into the city very often.

Anna Akana helped prep Poppy and Georgie for their big award show by assisting them with wardrobe and makeup. Poppy selected a demure, cornflower blue dress with white gloves and a tiara (on loan from Claire’s), while Georgie opted for a spray tan (so that he could look like The Rock, one of his favorite Hollywood stars. Rick Moranis is the other).
Poppy attended school with the Duchess of Cambridge, but the former nothing but gracious when it comes to comparisons.
“Me and Kate were at school together, she’s a little bit older than me, but she clearly copied me in terms of brown hair and stuff,” Poppy told Graham Norton.
Georgie holds his right hand like Prince Charles. Must be an upper class thing.
