Today Kensington Palace shared a photo of the Duchess of Cambridge getting her first COVID-19 vaccine. Looking like an off-duty, casual Queen Consort-in-waiting, Kate wore her hair down and sported an outfit that reminded me of my middle school days — ribbed scoop neck fitted shirt with high-wasted jeans (something one might find in the now-shuttered Contempo Casuals or Wet Seal).

“Yesterday I received my first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at London’s Science Museum,” HRH wrote on the photo’s accompanying caption. “I’m hugely grateful to everyone who is playing a part in the rollout – thank you for everything you are doing.”
Kate wore a cream ribbed top by H&M, one she first wore in September 2016 on a visit to Cornwall, according to both Kate’s Closet and Kate Middleton Style Blog. While that top is no longer available, H&M has another version on sale for $9.99. With the help of fans (and their impeccable eye sight), Kate’s Closet was able to ID HRH’s jeans as & Other Stories Favorite Cut Jeans in light blue.
Prince William got his jab on May 20 and if you recall, more than a few of us were a little hot and bothered by his biceps. In the words of Bridget Jones: “Ding Dong!”

According to the BBC’s latest report, the U.K. government hit its target of vaccinating those over 50, as well as anyone with health issues. Now, anyone over 30 is eligible to get the vaccine in England and Scotland. Anyone over 18 is eligible in Wales and Northern Ireland. So far, 39 million people in the U.K. over 50 have had their first dose. The four vaccines approve for use are Pfizer-BioNTech, Oxford-AstraZeneca, Moderna and Janssen.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, along with Her Majesty, Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall, the Earl and Countess of Wessex and other working members of the royal family have done remarkable work keeping in touch with healthcare and frontline workers and boosting morale since the pandemic turned life upside down. From writing letters and phone calls to the elderly and the consistent Zoom meetings, their work hasn’t stopped.
Have you been impressed by the the royal family’s efforts to connect with people during the pandemic?
