Let's talk royals
Last Friday’s premiere of “Emily in Paris” on Netflix might have been nothing like Kate’s royal trip to the city of lights in 2017 (for one, I don’t think Patricia Fields, the show’s costume designer, edited HRH’s wardrobe).

There are certain moments when we are reminded that kings and queens can also be grandparents, and Queen Silvia of Sweden did just that last week.
Her Majesty was watching the equestrian jumping event during the 2016 Rio Olympics with King Carl XVI Gustaf and the Dutch royals.
Wanting to capture some of the highlights to show friends and family back home, Queen Silvia whipped out her smart phone and got to work.

Just because William and Catherine sat this round out doesn’t mean that other royals were going to watch the Summer Games from the comfort of their homes.
Queen Maxima packed up her chicest summer pieces, as well as orange pants for her husband, and brought her family to her native South America (Her Majesty originally hails from Argentina).
King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia supported the Swedish national team, Prince Albert cheered on Monaco, Prince Frederick did the same with Denmark, as did Princess Anne for Great Britain.
What was most pleasant to see was how relaxed the royals looked sitting in the grandstands watching events. Everyone was, for the most part dressed down in polos, half-zips or (in Maxima’s case) maxi dresses. [Read more…]
Gin is a very British spirit, and one yours truly loves to enjoy as soon as the clock strikes gin o’clock.
Imagine my delight when hotel and travel site Rebecca Recommends showed me a cocktail from The Goring Hotel’s summer bar. Which is a gin garden. With sheep. And hills of heather and wildflowers.
The Goring is perhaps best known as the hotel where the Duchess of Cambridge, along with her family, spent her last night as a commoner singleton, before marrying Prince William at Westminster Abbey on April 29th, 2011. [Read more…]
Since she and Prince William traveled to Northern Ireland today, the couple were known as the Baron and Barroness of Carrickfergus (just like that lovely blond in The Sound of Music).

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge arrived in Bhutan this morning after making one helluva landing.
Paro International Airport, nestled in the Himalayan Mountains, is considered one of the most challenging airports in the world, and for that reason only eight pilots are qualified to land.

William and Catherine were invited into the cockpit as the pilot landed the plane. Prior to their descent, everyone on board (including the British press) was told not to “be alarmed” by the landing, which the captain promised would be “unique” and “spectacular,” according to the Daily Mail‘s Victoria Murphy. Day 4 of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s India tour was easily the most entertaining, because BABY ELEPHANTS and BABY RHINOS.

It’s just past 5am in in New Delhi, and here I am on Eastern Time writing up the happenings from day 3 of the royal tour.
I think my favorite dress from the tour so far is Catherine’s Temperley London “Desdemona” lace dress, worn for a lunch meeting today with the Prime Minister in New Delhi.
