The Duchess Diary has been live for nearly a week now (feels a bit longer), and I figured this occasion calls for an introduction to my work as a royal reporter/Kate enthusiast.
I was talking with a friend today via Gchat when Sir Hubert Parry’s “I Was Glad” came on my Spotify. I told my friend I was listening to the song that played as “Kate” walked down the aisle (Her Majesty also chose this piece for her 1953 coronation), and sent her the YouTube video.
Friend: “How does she stay so poised?”
Me: “B/c she is not like us.”
Friend: “Truer words.”
It’s true. Though commoner blood runs through those veins, Her Royal Highness is almost otherworldly. Faultless she is not, but Catherine has a little big of magic to her that we really only see in fairy tales, which is perhaps why I am so enchanted.
My friend and I then moved on to list reasons why we can’t wait to retire and live like Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother (lunch dates, gin and tonics, etc). By the way, it took me a mere two days to turn my friend into a full-fledged Catherine fan, complete with tea towels, mugs and coffee table books.
In lieu of any big royal news, I invite you to visit the below links to see what I’ve written in the past, what galleries I’ve put together, and understand more about why I love covering the royals.
God Save The Queen,
Kelly
