Cheeeeeeese.

You have to hand it to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge for pulling off a fantastic photo op just as the media was finished tearing Prince William apart.

Many have accused the Duke of being “workshy,” and shirking his royal responsibilities in favor of spending time with his family at their Norfolk, England home.

“No one really wants to admit it openly, but it was the talk of Sandringham over Christmas that he does nothing,” a source told the Sun‘s Emily Andrews last month.

“He wanted to move to Norfolk to give him the life of the gentleman country farmer, like his friends.”

So, William took matters into his own hands and arranged a family photo session in the French Alps last Thursday, reminiscent of the one he, Prince Harry and Prince Charles held in 2005 while skiing in the Klosters.

“The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted to share new photos of their family enjoying a short ski break,” Kensington Palace tweeted earlier today.

“This was their first holiday as a family of four and the first time either of the children have played in the snow.”

A few photos show William and Catherine being playful with one another.  Others feature the children in their snow suits – George is now 2 1/2,  and Charlotte will turn one on May 2nd.

The Daily Mail has spoken to sources about William and Catherine’s reluctance to invite a group of photographers to take pictures of their children, as royals have done in the past.

“They were keen to share pictures with the public but are firmly of the opinion that they are too young for photocall,” the sources said.

“They decided to invite one photographer to take what are a beautiful set of family photographs and believe the public will understand and support them in that decision.”

William and Catherine are back to work on March 10th in an joint engagement focusing on suicide prevention.

The following day they’ll visit the youth mentoring program, the XLP project, which supports young people who are facing emotional, behavioural and relational challenges, according to the palace diary.

They first visited the project in March 2015.
