Wearing a green Emilia Wickstead coat for the third year in a row with a green Gina Foster hat (also worn on Christmas Day 2014), the Duchess of Cambridge handed out shamrocks at the annual Irish Guards’ St. Patrick’s Day Parade. According to the Daily Express, the Queen Mother undertook this duty, passing out sprigs of shamrocks to the officers and guards of the regiment. The tradition was started by Queen Alexandra in 1901.
