It’s about as British as Royal Ascot (perhaps even more so), and today the Royal Horticultural Society’s Chelsea Flower Show held its press day for members of the media, as well as those from the royal family.
The Countess of Wessex, Princess Anne, Prince Harry, Princess Beatrice, Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, Princess Alexandra Princess Eugenie, Prince Andrew, Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge all arrived at the show before Her Majesty and Prince Philip, who are always in attendance year after year.
This is William and Catherine’s first joint visit to the show.
What I learned about the Duke and #DuchessOfCambridge at the #RHSChelseaFlowerShow tonight – they call each other “Darling” a LOT. #Kate

Catherine chose a very cheery Catherine Walker coat, which she wore in Canberra, Australia in 2014. She paired the coat with her LK Bennett “Fern” pumps and gold leaf earrings by Kiki McDonough.
The royals took a look at some of the show’s more spectacular exhibits, including the 5,000 poppies displayed in front of the Royal Chelsea Hospital.
An oversized profile of the Queen outlined in 10,000 colorful flowers highlights Her Majesty’s 90th birthday, and a pink and green Chrysanthemum, Rossano Charlotte is on display, named after Princess Charlotte.
Waitrose sells the special flower, with half of the proceeds going towards East Anglian Children’s Hospice.
According to the Daily Mail‘s Rebecca English, Catherine jokingly asked Harry which of the Chrysanthemums was his favorite, pointing to the Rossano Charlotte.
“Do you have a favourite?” Catherine asked her brother-in-law. “You don’t have to be biased.”
Harry pointed to the pointing to the Rossano Charlotte and teased, “What about the one that’s in the middle?”

What’s more, shops in the neighborhood (including some of Catherine’s favorite designers) got into the swing of things by showing off their own floral arrangements.
