He is the heir, and she, the spare. So it’s only fitting that Prince George and his little sister, Princess Charlotte take part in the celebration of Queen Elizabeth’s (or “Gan Gan” as George calls her) 90th birthday.
The Sun‘s Emily Andrews reports that the two children of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge posed alongside the monarch for photographer Annie Leibowitz, who also worked with Her Majesty in 2007.
“Wills and Kate were with the children but as adoring parents rather than wanting to be in the pics themselves,” a source told Andrews.
Catherine herself is a keen photographer, having taken several photos of her family and of the places she and William have traveled.
“Annie was taking the official pictures but Kate took her own snaps for the family album. It was really cute. The Queen loves her great-grandchildren and is very proud of them.
“The pictures will be a lovely way to to mark a remarkable 90th birthday.”
The milestone falls on April 21st, but the public celebrations will take place in June with the annual Trooping of the Colour (which marks the Queen’s official birthday), a service of thanksgiving and a Patron’s Lunch on the Mall, created to highlight Her Majesty’s patronage of over 600 organizations.
George is third in line to throne after Prince Charles and Prince William, followed by his little sister, Charlotte, who replaces her Uncle Harry as “the spare.”
