Retailers the world over have created special items to commemorate Princess Charlotte‘s arrival, and – if we’re being honest – it’s jolly good fun to celebrate a girl because FASHION AND BEAUTY AND SPARKLY JEWELS (soz, George).
British jeweler Monica Vinader, who started her line in 2008 to fuse together fashion and fine jewelry, sketched a personalized necklace for the Duchess of Cambridge featuring her iconic Siren pendants and the new Alphabet range, launching in July.
I’m told that a selection of designers were tasked with creating something special for the royal birth, and it was a happy coincidence that the original sketch featured a diamond-set “C.”
The necklace was originally meant as a gift for Catherine, since the designs were mocked up prior to the announcement of Charlotte’s name.
“The ‘C’ is actually for Catherine, not Charlotte,” a source at the company told me. “The idea was that it would be given to Kate to celebrate her family, and the new arrival.”
Catherine was first seen wearing the designer’s “Riva” diamond cluster earrings ($1,245) and matching cluster bib necklace ($3,340) to the 2014 Wildlife Photographer of The Year Awards on October 21st, 2014, held at the Natural History Museum in London.
