Heavy Is The Head: Netflix Previews New Drama, “The Crown”

Earlier today, Netflix debuted a trailer for their newest series, “The Crown,” based on the early reign of Elizabeth II.

The trailer opens with the young queen (played by Claire Foy) testing out St. Edward’s Crown ahead of her June 1953 coronation while her children, Prince Charles and Princess Anne watch.

Charles once said that his mother would come visit him at bath time wearing the crown, attempting to get used to its weight before the coronation. [Read more…]

10 Questions For “The Mindy Project’s” Writer and Royal Fan Chris Schleicher

Once upon a time on Instagram I started following Chris Schleicher, a writer on one of my favorite shows, “The Mindy Project” (season 3 now streaming on Hulu).  After scrolling through every one of his photos (a tribute to Her Majesty, reviews of “Grace of Monaco”), I decided to track Schleicher down for an interview.  It’s not very often one finds a sitcom writer who’s almost as enamored with royalty as oneself.

The Harvard graduate and former competitive pairs figure skater was a good sport, and even played a jolly good game of Shag-Marry-Kill, Windsor edition. [Read more…]

Last Days of “Downton Abbey” Filming: Elizabeth McGovern Shares Some Saddy-Cakes Pics

Filming for the sixth and final season of ITV’s “Downton Abbey” is winding down, and cast members are sharing some fantastic photos from the set via Twitter. [Read more…]

People Send ITV Editor Tom Bradby Nasty Tweets Thinking He’s Tom Brady

Tom Bradby seems like a lovely bloke.  He is ITV’s political editor, an accomplished author, and a friend of the Duke of Cambridge.   Bradby is so lovely, diplomatic and trustworthy that the Duke and his then-fiance, Catherine Middleton chose him for their only engagement interview on November 16th, 2010.

Bradby and William met in 2005 when the journalist was working as a royal correspondent, and William needed to borrow some video equipment for a project.  Their friendship was an odd one, only because the royal family and royal reporters aren’t usually friends. [Read more…]

“The Royals” Star Hatty Preston Steals the Show With Glittering Crow at Premiere Party

This chick right here makes me believe in all that glitters.  Her name is Hatty Preston and she plays one half of the faux-York sisters on E!’s “The Royals.” [Read more…]

“The Royals” Star Alexandra Park Can’t Wait For You to Meet Princess Eleanor

Whether or not you think that last Sunday’s premiere of “The Royals “lived up to its hype, there’s no question that one character in particular completely captured our attention.  Princess Eleanor, played by Alexandra Park, was equal parts disastrous and beautiful in episode one, showcasing both a rough exterior and a vulnerability that left the viewer wondering if they loved her, hated her or felt sorry for her (or all three).

I spoke to Park about her first big stateside break a few days after the show premiered in E!.  She’s an Aussie who loves “Good Will Hunting,” can’t get enough of “The Walking Dead,” and is taking orders from Elizabeth Hurley on her literary selections.  “You need to start reading more thrillers. They keep your mind busy!” she told Park. [Read more…]

“Cinderella” Spoof Trailer Jokes That Life Is Not a Fairytale

Fantasia Barrino hit the nail on the head when she wrote that book.  Life really isn’t a fairytale.  Neither party lived happily ever after once they stepped into that state landau, did they?  Did we not learn anything from “The Real Housewives of Disney?”

Screen Junkies is doing the Lord’s work with their series, Honest Trailers, which teaches youngsters that the bedtime stories aren’t what they seem, this time with Cinderella. [Read more…]

Mr. Carson Makes the Staff Clean Up For a Royal Visit to “Downton Abbey”

Today, the Duchess of Cambridge visited the “Downton Abbey” set at Ealing Studios in London, where she toured the trailers, set and accepted a cake made by Daisy (Sophie McShera) and Mrs. Patmore (Leslie Nicol).

“She spent the longest time in the kitchen, so me and Lesley [Nicol, who plays head cook Mrs. Patmore] are taking that as a compliment,” McShera told People Magazine’s Simon Perry. [Read more…]

Emma Watson Delivers a Blow to Royal Fans

Yes, we may have been more than a little excited at the prospect of tea towels bearing the name “Hermione, Countess of Muggleton.”  Instead, we took the high road and chose not to believe Woman’s Day‘s claims that Emma Watson and Prince Harry had been on “secret dates.”

This morning, Watson gently put those rumors to rest with a chocolate-covered message to her followers: [Read more…]

5 Reasons Why Royal Fans Should Be Watching ‘Peaky Blinders’

If you subscribe to Netflix, an image of Cillian Murphy with a ridiculous haircut has most likely passed your screen.  You’re already kinda freaked out by his piercing blue eyes and angular jaw, so it doesn’t help that he stars in a show with a name like Peaky Blinders.  What is that, a fetishy peep show kinda program?  “I thought it was about dancing or something,” Craig Ferguson said.

No. [Read more…]
