Thursday and Friday saw the Duchess of Cambridge attend back-to-back engagements, one of behalf of her charity, The Art Room and the other a “fact-finding” visit to The Fostering Network in the North London borough of Islington.
“She was overwhelmed by what she saw and heard,” the network’s president, Jim Bond, said. “She was very moved and impressed with it all.”
Wearing a chocolate animal print silk dress from Hobbs (sold out, BTW) with a Mulberry Bayswater clutch and Stuart Weitzman’s “Power” heels (available currently in black patent), and – according to What Kate Wore – Mirabelle’s “Lolita” gold-plated drop earrings, Catherine spoke with foster parents and listened to their stories.
HRH was a bit taken with one 6-month-old, whom she noted was “chubbier than George” (highest compliment in the land).
Outside the facility, the Duchess of Cambridge collected flowers from tiny humans and took a crack at conversation (most at that age just wander off after bestowing their gift, as tiny humans tend to do).
No need for maternity clothes…
Thursday saw Catherine spreadthe good word of art therapy alongside a gentleman in a dress.
Yes I know he has a name! He is none other than cross-dressing artist Grayson Perry, CBE (and according to Tom Sykes, he curtsied to the Queen upon receiving his award, thankyouverymuch).
Perry, also a patron of The Arts Room, told a group of people inside The Clore Art Room (including Catherine), “This is a normalised version of what I found out for myself, which is that an art practice is where you can go to soothe yourself.
“We shouldn’t think it’s just something for posh people. That’s why I identify so much with the Art Room because I come from that sort of background, a working class background.”

Though Perry (dressed as his alter ego, Claire) made his own outfit, Catherine wore a label new to her wardrobe, Madderson London. The “Naomi” shift, currently on backorder, is made of wool with tweed trim.
According to What Kate Wore, the website enjoyed a site crash after the dress was ID’d (yes enjoyed. That’s what happens when Catherine wears your items – euphoria and a 404 error).
On Monday, The Duchess of Cambridge will attend a coffee morning at Family Friends Kensington to meet volunteers and learn about the organisation’s work supporting vulnerable families.
After that, she’ll visit Kensington Aldridge Academy to formally open the new school. She’ll then open Kensington Leisure Centre.
