This morning, I awoke to a text from my sister.
“The royals are on Twitter,” she wrote.
I’m afraid we won’t be reading any hysterical pregnancy tweets from Catherine, nor 140 characters of drunk rambling from Prince Harry anytime soon, since “the royals are on Twitter” means something a bit more buttoned-up.

Back in 2012, plans were underway to move the court of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Harry from Clarence House (where the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall are based) to Kensington Palace, where they now live in Apartment 1A and Nottingham Cottage, respectively.
William and Harry created their own household separate from Prince Charles in 2009, which is funded by the Duchy of Cornwall.
“Clarence House always describes it as the Prince’s private money but it is really public money that forms part of the wider cost of the monarchy,” Richard Palmer of the Daily Express told me via email of the Duchy. “If we didn’t have a monarchy, it wouldn’t belong to Mr Charles Windsor, it would go into the exchequer.
“KP [Kensington Palace] says it will continue to use the Clarence House and British Monarchy Twitter feeds to get its message out as well but thought it was time William, Kate and Harry had their own feed,” he added.
Prior to today’s official launch, tweets about William, Catherine and Harry came from Clarence House, which also posts about Charles and Camilla’s work.

Today, Prince Harry and Carmelo Anthony celebrated this year’s Coach Core graduates at St. James’s Palace.
The organization, launched in 2012 by the Royal Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry, “trains young people to become sports coaches and inspire others in their communities,” according to Kensington Palace.
Tomorrow, Catherine will make a visit to Barlby Primary School for one of her charities, The Art Room.
