Everyone remembers where they were when it happened.

On August 31st, 1997, the Princess of Wales was killed when the car she was driven in crashed into a pole in Paris’ Pont de l’Alma tunnel.

No one could believe it, and everyone’s hearts broke for Diana’s two boys, Princes William and Harry.

Raf Sanchez, Middle East correspondant for the Telegraph, shared just-published transcripts of the exchange between then-US President Bill Clinton and Prime Minister Tony Blair after news broke.

The first conversation took place from from 11:39 to 11:54 a.m ET on September 1st, 1997.

The leaders were as affected by Diana’s untimely death as others were, and spoke of her fondly as a mother and as a recent divorcee.

“She was just basically getting a hold of her life,” Clinton said.  Diana’s divorce from Prince Charles was finalized almost a year before her death.

According to People, Blair, who dubbed Diana the “People’s Princess” in the days following her death,  also spoke of her position as a public figure.

“The problem was the way she lived, in a press frenzy,” Blair told Clinton. “It’s impossible to contemplate how intrusive it was, into every single aspect of her life.

“The last time I spoke with her, she said that were it not for the boys, she’d be off the board.”

Today, Kensington Palace released more details on Willam, Catherine and now Harry’s overseas trip this spring.

William and Catherine  will travel to Bhutan, while Harry will visit Nepal.    It will be the first time Their Royal Highnesses have visited these countries.

Diana visited Nepal in 1993.

No other details have been released, and the palace will probably not disclose whether or not Charlotte and George will join their parents on the trip, if at all.

At this time, Bhutan is the only location on the itinerary, most likely indicating that the children will not join the Duke and Duchess since they may not be away from very long.

Charlotte’s first birthday is on May 2nd, so their trip will likely take place in April.
