There he is, the future king of the United Kingdom and its Commonwealth realms.

Today His Royal Highness, Prince George Alexander Louis of Cambridge begins his British education.

Kensington Palace released two photos of George arriving for his first day at Westacre Montessori School Nursery in Norfolk, taken by the Duchess of Cambridge.

With his blond locks tousled about and quilted jacket showing off a bit of tartan, George looked confident and ready for some introductions.

According to What Kate’s Kids Wore, the hooded puffer piece is from John Lewis (and is currently out-of-stock).

Richard Palmer of the Daily Express spoke with bystanders near the school, who noticed that security was tight as the royals arrived.   It’s roughly a twenty-minute drive from the family’s home to Westacre.

Palmer reports that George will attend school a few times a week with about 20 other pupils, and the hourly rate (£5.50) is much lower than at nursery schools in London.

The Montesorri method of teaching promotes “freedom within limits” and independence.  Teachers in these types of schools are trained to respect a child’s “natural psychological, physical and social development.”

The youths are encourage  to “explore their passions rather than being instructed by a teacher.”

Both Prince William and Prince Harry attended Montessori nursery schools.

The decision to send George to school near their 10-bedroom Anmer Hall home was one William and Catherine didn’t hesitate over.

“They felt this was ideal as a first step for Prince George’s early education,” a royal aide told Palmer.

“And the location makes sense given the Duke’s role while he’s flying.”

The Duke and Duchess are said to consider Anmer their family home, despite having an official residence at Kensington Palace.

The family prefers the privacy and country life offered there on the Queen’s Sandringham estate to the noise, congestion and intrusion brought on by paparazzi in London.
