I’ve covered the British royal family for nearly four years now, and still my fascination with the former Kate Middleton remains the same.
People often ask me, “What made you want to cover the royal family?” There are many reasons, but one stands out above others. I admire the relationship that exists between the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Prince William – who could have easily turned out to be an angry, bitter adult, given his parents hostile marriage – grew into a caring, kind and generous man. The first royal to ever attend University of St. Andrews, William arrived to find a swarm of fans waiting to greet him in the seaside town.
After settling in, William met Middleton in St. Salvatore’s hall, where both were assigned to live as freshman. From there, a friendship turned into a romance, and before we know it, the heir to the British throne had popped the question to a commoner.
What a story. What a courtship. She, a girl from the Home Counties whose ancestors were coal miners, and he, born into a life of duty and privilege. Though not the first commoner to do so, Her Royal Highness will make history as consort to King William V.
I hope you enjoy reading this site as much as I love putting it together.
