What is Prince William’s Tie to Chatsworth House?

After graduating from St. Andrews University in 2005, Prince William undertook a series of work experiences throughout England, a country he will one day rule.

In addition to working in London’s financial district, it’s been revealed that William rolled up his sleeves alongside employees at the famed Chatsworth House in Derbyshire, a historical home that has appeared in countless television programs and movies, including Pride & Prejudice and The Duchess.

“He spent a week working around the estate and made sausage rolls and mince pies,” Christine Robinson, author of Chatsworth: The Housekeeper’s Tale, told the Daily Express.  “Then he spent a week at the house, dressed in overalls, drinking tea and eating fish and chips with the rest of the housemen and joiners.” [Read more…]

On Saturday, the Daily Mirror reported that an official trip to New York City was being planned for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.  It’s being described as a “show-stopper” of a tour, and will take place either at the end of November or beginning of December.

“This trip is in the early planning phase but it’s a clear sign that she is on the mend,” a royal source told the paper.  “However, if there is any suggestion that the duchess isn’t well, it will be cancelled immediately.”

Why the Name “Princess Kate” Doesn’t Exist

Prince William raised eyebrows in 2013 when he signed his son’s birth certificate, listing Catherine’s occupation as “Princess of the United Kingdom.”

This both irritated and confused royal watchers and accredited reporters, who were told in 2011 that the former Kate Middleton was not a princess.

The Royal Spare: How Prince William and Kate Middleton May Honor Diana

Ever since the Duchess of Cambridge‘s first pregnancy, I was asked the same question: If the child were to be a girl, would her name be Diana?

My answer was the same every time, and still is to this day: No.  However, I could very well see the Duke and Duchess having it as part of their daughter’s middle name (the Windsors have been known to give lengthy middle names to their children). [Read more…]

Ask almost anyone who has met the Wales boy what they think, and you’ll get the same answer: They’re great men, raised by two parents who – despite their own tumultuous relationship – were able to instill in them a sense of compassion, kindness and social responsibility.

In the wake of today’s royal baby news (thank you to everyone who called, texted and tweeted your well wishes. We’re all thrilled), people are searching high and low for the next related headline.

While I wouldn’t call this bit of news surprising, I do find it interesting. According to the Daily Mail, renovations are just about done on Anmer Hall, the Georgian mansion gifted to the Duke of Cambridge by Queen Elizabeth. The Cambridges, it appears, are looking to make it their home base.

Update 9/8: William graciously gave a brief interview to the press during today’s visit, saying that he was “thrilled” about having another child.

She’s feeling ok thanks,” William said, according to the Daily Mirror. “It’s been a tricky few days, a week or so.

“But basically we are thrilled, it’s great news, early days.

“We are hoping things just settle down and she feels better…He added: “I’m going to go and look after her now.”

I can only imagine the scene inside Apartment 1A this morning.   Prince William, protective as hell, making sure the Duchess of Cambridge was well looked after by doctors.  Just as it was with her first pregnancy, the couple decided to not wait until Kate was safely out of her trimester, for fear the press coverage would be too much to handle.  [Read more…]
